If you’re planning a wedding in Hampshire and your dog is a huge part of your life, you might be wondering: Should we bring our dog to our wedding?

As a relaxed and fun Hampshire wedding photographer, I’ve photographed some truly heart-melting moments with couples and their four-legged best friends. Having your dog there can add personality, emotion and a whole lot of joy to your day — but it does take a little planning.

Here are five important things to consider before bringing your dog to your wedding.

1. Is Your Hampshire Wedding Venue Dog-Friendly?

Not all venues allow dogs, so this is the first thing to check.

Many Hampshire barn venues and countryside estates are more flexible, especially for outdoor ceremonies. Others may allow dogs for:

  • The ceremony only
  • Outdoor areas only
  • Portraits but not the reception

If including your dog is a priority, make sure you ask about pet policies before booking — it can save disappointment later.

Ideally, assign:

  • A trusted guest who isn’t in the wedding party
  • Or a professional wedding pet chaperone (there are some brilliant ones in Hampshire!)

They can handle:

We’ll usually allow a little extra time for portraits so everything feels fun and unforced — because the best photos happen naturally.

Here’s the truth: dogs don’t follow timelines.

They might bark during vows.
They might pull you down the aisle.

Those spontaneous moments create authentic, joy-filled images that reflect you as a couple. If you’re planning a relaxed, personality-filled wedding in Hampshire, embracing the unpredictability can make your day even more memorable.

If logistics feel overwhelming, you can still honour your dog in creative ways:

Esha’s bridal suite buzzed with laughter and joy. Surrounded by her bridesmaids, the air was filled with chatter and the soft rustle of fabric. Each bridesmaid wore a unique, colorful sari, a nod to Indian wedding traditions. This vibrant scene was a dream for Indian wedding photography. ]]> High Billinghurst Farm is an enchanting and romantic barn wedding venue set within 65 acres of beautiful Surrey countryside situated at the end of a long meandering private lane. This wonderful Hay Barn with a large inglenook fireplace, bar and dancefloor can seat up to 150 guests, with the interlinking Elizabethan Barns providing a wonderful space for receptions, ceremonies, blessings. Throughout, the vibe is cool, glamorous and yet rustic.

Outside, the courtyard and walled rose garden look out across unspoiled countryside with far-reaching views providing a beautiful setting for the bride and groom’s arrival, sipping Champagne and mingling amongst friends.

I arrived at High Billinghust Farm early to capture getting-ready photos of Nadika and her bridesmaids at a cute cottage that was only few meters away from their ceremony and reception room. This was my first time at High Billinghust Farm wedding venue and I absolutely fell in love with it – if you are looking for a very private wedding venue in the middle of beautiful countryside with stunning views, you should visit this Surrey wedding venue. After taking photos of Nadika getting ready and a very emotional first look with her parents, I went to meet groom Ben in their indoor, rustic ceremony room.

After the ‘I do’s’ and gorgeous confetti fun photo shoot, we managed to do some group photos before it started raining. When it rains on your wedding day, it apparently means blessing. Luckily the rain didn’t last for too long. I took Nadika and Ben to the field that offered a beautiful setting for their wedding photos.

After cutting a cake everyone was ready for a dance floor fun. I love capturing this part of the day. This is the time for me to document the joy and fun of all guests.

Thank you to Nadika and Ben to give me an opportunity to shoot at this beautiful Surrey wedding venue and I am so pleased to be back again this year.
