<p></p>

<p>If you’re planning a wedding in Hampshire and your dog is a huge part of your life, you might be wondering: <em>Should we bring our dog to our wedding?</em></p>

<p>As a <strong>relaxed and fun Hampshire wedding photographer</strong>, I’ve photographed some truly heart-melting moments with couples and their four-legged best friends. Having your dog there can add personality, emotion and a whole lot of joy to your day — but it does take a little planning.</p>

<p>Here are five important things to consider before bringing your dog to your wedding.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="2560" height="1706" src="https://adelaphotography.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Adela_Photography_Hampshire_Petersfield-5-scaled.jpg" alt="A bride and groom in wedding attire smile on grass before lush trees, with a golden retriever in a bow tie at their feet. The bride’s long, lacy gown and veil complete this charming dog friendly wedding in Hampshire." class="wp-image-9019"/></figure>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">1. Is Your Hampshire Wedding Venue Dog-Friendly?</h2>

<p>Not all venues allow dogs, so this is the first thing to check.</p>

<p>Many <strong>Hampshire barn venues and countryside estates</strong> are more flexible, especially for outdoor ceremonies. Others may allow dogs for:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>The ceremony only</li>

<li>Outdoor areas only</li>

<li>Portraits but not the reception</li>
</ul>

<p>If including your dog is a priority, make sure you ask about pet policies before booking — it can save disappointment later.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" src="https://adelaphotography.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Adela_Photography_Hampshire_Petersfield-6-683x1024.jpg" alt="A golden retriever wearing a black and white tuxedo bandana sits on green grass, looking at the camera with its mouth open in a friendly, happy expression—perfect for a dog friendly wedding in Hampshire." class="wp-image-9021"/></figure>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">2. Will Your Dog Actually Enjoy the Day?</h2>

<p>Weddings are busy. There are hugs, music, cheering, confetti and lots of new people.</p>

<p>Ask yourself:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Is your dog calm in new environments?</li>

<li>Are they comfortable around large groups?</li>

<li>Can they sit and stay (even briefly) for photos?</li>

<li>Do they get anxious with noise?</li>
</ul>

<p>If your pup loves people and attention, they’ll probably thrive. If they’re more sensitive, you might consider having them for a short part of the day — or including them in your engagement shoot instead.</p>

<p>As a relaxed Hampshire wedding photographer, I always aim to keep things natural and pressure-free — especially when dogs are involved.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="666" src="https://adelaphotography.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Adela_Photography_Hampshire_Petersfield-3-1024x666.jpg" alt="A bride in a white dress and a man in a blue suit greet two dogs on a grassy lawn at their dog friendly wedding in Hampshire, while another man in a green shirt holds the leashes. Trees and bushes fill the background." class="wp-image-9017"/></figure>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">3. Who’s in Charge of the Dog?</h2>

<p>This is the one couples often forget.</p>

<p>Your wedding party will be busy. Your family will want to celebrate. You don’t want to be worrying about water bowls or toilet breaks.</p>

<p>Ideally, assign:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>A trusted guest who isn’t in the wedding party</li>

<li>Or a professional wedding pet chaperone (there are some brilliant ones in Hampshire!)</li>
</ul>

<p>They can handle:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Walks and feeding</li>

<li>Keeping your dog calm before the ceremony</li>

<li>Holding leads during photos</li>

<li>Taking them home before the evening party</li>
</ul>

<p>This makes the whole experience feel easy and stress-free.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" src="https://adelaphotography.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Adela_Photography_Hampshire_Petersfield-7.jpg" alt="A bride in a white lace wedding dress kneels on grass, smiling and posing with her golden retriever in a tuxedo bandana at a dog friendly wedding in Hampshire." class="wp-image-9022"/></figure>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">4. Plan Dog Time Into Your Wedding Timeline</h2>

<p>Your dog doesn’t need to stay all day to be part of it.</p>

<p>Some of my favourite setups as a Hampshire wedding photographer include:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Dog walking down the aisle</li>

<li>Joining confetti photos</li>

<li>A few relaxed couple portraits in the countryside</li>

<li>Then heading home before the reception kicks off</li>
</ul>

<p>We’ll usually allow a little extra time for portraits so everything feels fun and unforced — because the best photos happen naturally.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="607" src="https://adelaphotography.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Adela_Photography_Hampshire_Wedding_Photographer_Petersfield_marquee_country_wedding-862-1024x607.jpg" alt="A bride and groom in wedding attire kneel with a dog in front of large, illuminated letters spelling LOVE outdoors at night." class="wp-image-9013"/></figure>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">5. Be Ready for Real-Life Moments</h2>

<p>Here’s the truth: dogs don’t follow timelines.</p>

<p>They might bark during vows.<br>They might pull you down the aisle.<br>They might decide to sit mid-photo.</p>

<p>And honestly? That’s often where the magic is.</p>

<p>Those spontaneous moments create authentic, joy-filled images that reflect you as a couple. If you’re planning a relaxed, personality-filled wedding in Hampshire, embracing the unpredictability can make your day even more memorable.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Not Sure If They Should Attend? You Can Still Include Them</h2>

<p>If logistics feel overwhelming, you can still honour your dog in creative ways:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Signature cocktails named after them</li>

<li>Custom illustrations on signage</li>

<li>Cake toppers</li>

<li>Save-the-dates featuring your pup</li>

<li>Engagement photos in the New Forest or Hampshire countryside</li>
</ul>

<p>There’s no right or wrong — just what feels right for you.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f43e.png" alt="🐾" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Dog-Friendly or Potentially Pet-Welcoming Wedding Venues in Hampshire</h3>
